Andrew Germishuys

Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Andrew has enjoyed and partaken in many sports and physical activities from a young age. Beginning with martial arts at a very young age, and playing school cricket, and partaking in many cycle tours throughout the years. Soon after completing high school, Andrew volunteered on with the police, transferring to the East Metropol Task Team, and undergoing all the associated training and duties (including firearms, tactics, and many other specialised police courses). He has also frequented several shooting ranges and clubs over the years. Andrew also holds civilian competency in handgun, rifle, shotgun, carbine). Along with the police weapons and tactical training, he has also completed many courses and workshops in unarmed combat, martial arts, weapons (firearm and other), and tactics. On many occasions, forming part of the instruction team for aspects of the training. Over and above the B.Sc. degree and diplomas, Andrew has completed many courses, workshops, and master classes in the film industry, relating to acting and filmmaking, as well as many aspects of production and post-production (including VFX, editing, audio, colourist, and delivery). Working in the film world for just over two decades now, Andrew has worked as an armourer, as specialised cast for various shoots requiring police / military characters for re-enactments (and advising on those scenes), and in a few featured roles – all this on both local South African shoots, as well as large scale international productions. When not working on a film shoot, Andrew is a tech and VR enthusiast, PC games, as well as owner of The South African Movie Database.
