My name is Leo Gumede, I studied the arts in high school and earned a scholarship based on my cultural merits in acting as well as attaining leadership positions such as Head-boy SRC chairmen and lead tenor in choir. After high school I sought to make myself as diverse as possible and did a year studying musical theatre and dance at Oakfields academy but the acting arena never challenged me and for my second year I sought another place of education and found SAFATA. The acting and dance curriculum was good but I still wanted more challenges so I managed to get an agent through an academy performance of grease and I was one of few signed. During that time, I started taking stunt classes growing my fight vocabulary and landed my first role on a Netflix series while still in college, known as Classified- playing Yasseen Daniels, after many auditions and callbacks for a lead role and getting shortlisted. After that I went into stunt choreography for a few films and continued growing my acting and stunt vocabulary as well as investing time to enhancing my physical stature to ensure optimal physical prowess. I left school and sought growth through no safety nets within the industry and the industry has taught me a lot about my craft and I am grateful for the experiences I have had.
